Alan Johnson MP becomes Patron

Fri, Jun 12th 2009

Johnson.jpg In announcing his acceptance to become a Patron of CAT.ZERO, Alan Johnson made the following statement:

"The number of young people not in employment, education or training (NEET) is not only a major challenge in Hull, where it affects more than one in ten young people, but also across the country.  The potential saving of getting these young people off the NEET register is very significant.

"Many of these youngsters were or are in care and I am particularly concerned to see them given the benefit of this innovative programme.

"The objective of helping 450 young people to turn their lives around is commendable and I wholeheartedly support this project and congratulate all those associated with it.

"I am sorry not to be able to visit the programme today as previously arranged due to changes in my Government responsibilities and look forward to meeting the team and some of the young people on a future occasion.

"I am therefore delighted to demonstrate my full support for this initiative by accepting the invitation from CAT.ZERO to become a patron."
